IN HONOR OF ELLIE
Ellie was one of those quintessential yellow labs, who was always doing the wrong thing at the right time.
One of our earliest experiences together was about four months into her wild and crazy life, when I took Ellie for a walk in what was billed as an ‘indestructible harness.’ Well, it took her about two seconds to maneuver out of that harness–and she took off across our apartment complex. After a 20-minute search, I saw my neighbor pointing inside her apartment to Ellie sitting on her couch and watching tv. I needed a laugh that day, and Ellie sure delivered!
Ellie gave me endless stories and good times. She loved to love and was my pal. We’d go to the dog park, where I’d encourage her to play with other dogs, but she’d just stay by my side until I threw her frisbee. Ellie would bring it right back uninterested in other people or dogs along her path back to me.
Her greatest lesson was given to me when she passed away: To always live boldly and do good. She was bold and mostly good. At the time, I wasn’t living boldly and felt stuck and uninspired in a corporate job.
That’s when I decided to start this company and honor Ellie for all the greatness she brought into my life. Born on Valentine’s Day, Ellie always wore a big red collar–so Red Collar Marketing seemed to be just the right name for a company started in her honor.
